AISWACS is a National level Non Governmental Organisation of the Santals and allied Adivasi communities in India with its Head Office based at New Delhi. The Head Office is responsible for the Co-ordination of all the activities being implemented by the regional/branch offices. It is a Member Organisation of Indian Confederation of Indigenous and Tribal Peoples (ICITP). Moreover it is totally governed by the Adivasis themselves. AISWACS is not only an Adivasi NGO but also a social movement committed for the empowerment of Santals (Adivasis) in totality and it is involved in the process of socio-cultural, Socio-political and economic liberation.

AISWACS represents the Santals in India. With a population of over 10 million, the Santals are the largest homogenous indigenous tribal groups in India. They are inhabitants in the states of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Assam and Tripura. They are also found as migrant labourers in the states of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi. A huge Santal population also live in Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. Besides the Santals, AISWACS is also involved in facilitating the empowerment of the allied Adivasi Communities like Mundas, Hos, Kharias, Oraons etc. in the above mentioned States.
